Meet Ann Jones

Ann Jones was born in Milwaukee, WI but grew up in part in Honolulu. She has been fascinated by and loved nature since birth. Jones earned a degree in Life Sciences and taught for many years before finding her true artistic voice as a pastel painter.

She works almost exclusively using her hand and fingers. As she creates layered colors that are full of atmosphere, motion and light. Today, Ann lives at the rocky shore east side of an island off the Pacific Northwest coast. The constantly changing sun rises, weather, and scenery provide constant inspiration for her art.

Inspired by the Natural World

Nature is the subject of all art in Ann's painting.

Ann's artwork depicts a variety of scenes ranging from ocean shores to farmlands to wildflowers, woods, and ever-changing skies. Her artwork also illustrates a deep love for the landscapes surrounding her home.

When Ann goes on one of her many hikes or strolls along the shoreline, or when she paints outside, she finds inspiration by viewing the various aspects of nature: its texture, color, mood, and sounds.

Ann attempts to express a "feeling" with each of her paintings. She strives to help people experience an emotional connection to the beauty, power, and sense of awe found in the natural world.

"I am using color and shape to visually represent my interpretation of this natural world to create an emotional response in the viewer.”
